Phil Campbell's new community shelter will keep people safe
By Staff
The Town of Phil Campbell voted to match the grant for a community shelter. The town will be providing $12,000 for the town to have a safe haven from deadly storms, and dangerous winds.
The town's decision to provide their citizens with a safe place for shelter shows they care about the residents of their town, and that should mean a lot to those who put them in office.
Northwest Alabama is known for severe weather in the fall as well as the spring. Many residents don't have a safe place to stay in the event of an emergency, and that is not acceptable.
The shelter will hold 50 to 75 people, and will be self-containing with oxygen. It will also be wheelchair accessible so that no one will be left out in the storm.
Congratulations to the town of Phil Campbell for taking steps in ensuring the safety of their citizens.
We know it is well appreciated.
