MILLPORT – The Phil Campbell Bobcats fell 26-20 to the South Lamar Stallions in a spring football game held at South Lamar High School.
As the temps fell below the fifty degree mark, it felt more like a late fall regular season game instead of a spring game.
Except for a couple of big defensive plays for both teams it was mostly an offensive game played through the air.
Jonathan Dill completed 11-of-20 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns for the Bobcats. He also scored once on the ground.
Trailing 6-0, Dill completed a 41-yard pass to Adam Mitchell to set up an eight yard touchdown toss to Stephen Lacey to tie the game.
Dill tied the game up again when he puched the ball into the end zone from one yard out to tie the score at 14.
The Bobcats came up with their best defensive play late in the game as South Lamar was inside the Phil Campbell 10-yard line.
Stephen Lacey stripped the ball away from the South Lamar running back and sprinted 66 yards to put the Bobcats into scoring position.
Dill hit Lacey on a 14- yard touchdown pass to cap Phil Campbell's points.
Lacey caught seven passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 25 yards on five carries.
Caleb Thompson caught two passes for 30 yards. Adam Mitchell caught one pass for 41 yards and Chase White caught on pass for 38 yards.
