Fit, fun and fabulous philosophy

By Staff
Melissa Cason, Franklin County Times
Last weekend, I went to south Arkansas to visit my best friend, Dana, who I have known for almost 20 years. I love going to see her, but my hometown is never the same.
It seemed so great when I was in high school, but now it is less than great. Time has definitely taken a toll on my idea of what's fun, and what's not.
While part of my trip was eye-opening, it was not all bad. I attended a gathering at my friend's house Saturday night, and I met some great people. I know it seems weird that I have to meet people in my own hometown, but I have been gone for 10 years, and have only visited three times in that time period.
One of the ladies I met gave me a great idea about how to live life to the fullest. She calls it the three F's: fit, fun and fabulous.
First, be fit. I am working on that. I have joined a gym, and try to eat right. Hopefully, I will be in better shape by August.
Secondly, have fun! Life should be fun, and we should make the most of everything. So, I have decided to add a little fun into my life. I am planning to spend more time enjoying life instead of worrying about what's coming up in the future, or what's going to be in the paper next week, or next month. I plan to take things as they come, and laugh about the stuff that I can't change or prevent. After all, laughter is a good healer.
Finally, be fabulous. We all have it in us to be fabulous. I already think I am pretty great, but I do have a tendency to dress slouchy just because it's comfortable. Comfortable is not fabulous. My goal is to be fabulous everyday, even on weekends.
Outer beauty starts with inner beauty, and looking great builds self-confidence, and every woman experiences times when she feels less than confident about herself.
It is my hope that everyone woman in Franklin County decides to incorporate the three F's into thier lives.
