Red Bay tennis wins sectional
By Staff
RED BAY – Red Bay Boys Team took four singles titles at 1,2,3, and 6 and added a No. 3 doubles title to win the sectional tennis tournament held in Florence April 24-26.
They will be playing in the state tennis tournament on May 2-3 in Jacksonville.
Red Bay finished with 46 total points outdistancing Lauderdale County with 33.
Red Bay repeats as Boys champion while Shoals Christian 3-peated in the Girls. Red Bay Girls tied for 5th place.
Red Bay now has 15 state appearances since beginning tennis in 1989.
"This bunch worked everyday to improve their games. They put in the court time to repeat as sectional champions," Coach Sonny Glasgow said. "Now, their goal is to do better at state. I try to not hinder them in matches and staying out of their way was very successful this year. Our team looks forward to state and next year as we lose only one player."
Glasgow has now led Red Bay to 15 state appearances in his 18 years as Tennis Coach at Red Bay.
