SPRING VALLEY – A Russellville woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 43 in Colbert County Monday morning.
Brittney Jean Spires, 20, was pronounced dead on the scene of a fiery collision between her 1991 Honda and an 18-wheeler just before noon Monday.
"Both vehicles were engulfed in flames," said Littleville Police Chief William Nale, who was one of the first to respond to the scene. "Both slid off the road and down an embankment."
Nale said the 18-wheeler, which was hauling feed for Gold Kist Poultry Co., was traveling south, while Spires was traveling north.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, Roy Goodwin, suffered minor injuries.
The accident occurred approximately 2-miles north of Littleville, near the U.S. 43 and Blue Road intersection.
Russellville Police also responded to the scene.
