Council looks to expand board

The Russellville Civil Service Board might be expanding soon from three members to five, after action taken at Monday night's city council meeting.
The council approved a resolution requesting the local legislative delegation to introduce a local bill increasing the board to five members.
Increasing the size of the board has been discussed several times by the council in recent work sessions. The three-member current board, comprised of Terry Zills, Jack Landers and Dexter Hamilton, has worked overtime in the past few months to keep up with increasing needs for personnel lists.
The bill, as requested by the city council, would also increase each member's salary from $100 to $200 each month.
The current civil service board system, established in 1973, calls for each member to serve staggered six-year terms.
