The community of Causeyville opens its doors to the public on Saturday when it hosts "A Day in the Country."
The annual event will be from 8:30 a.m. until dark at the Causeyville Volunteer Fire Department, 12 miles south of Meridian off Highway 19.
The festival includes a flea market, and arts and crafts booths. Entertainment will begin at 10 a.m. with performances by local artists.
Visitors will be able to munch on pork crackling, barbecue plates, hot sweet potatoes, homemade cakes, chitlins, hominy, and boiled and parched peanuts.
Organizers expect about 1,000 people to attend Saturday's event; at past events, about $5,000 has been raised, with the money going to purchase equipment for the Causeyville VFD.
