West Lauderdale High School student Caleb Dulaney has been nominated for the coveted Wendy's High School Heisman Award. Given in conjunction with the collegiate Heisman, this award honors the nation's top high school seniors who best exemplify a supreme "citizen-scholar-athlete."
He was nominated by Principal Michael Ethridge for his academic aptitude, athletic talent and tremendous display of commitment to his community.
Celebrating more than 10 years of commitment to youth and education, this program was created in 1994 through a partnership among Wendy's, the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the Heisman Memorial Trophy in 1994.
Dulaney has a 4.15 grade point average, he was a top 10 finalist in the Mississippi Math and Science Competition, he is a member of the National Honor Society, he plays football and basketball and he is a drummer at First Baptist Church of Collinsville.
Twelve national finalists are invited for an all-expense paid trip to New York City from Dec. 10 -12 to participate in the Heisman weekend festivities. ESPN2 will feature all 12 national finalists during the Wendy's High School Heisman Awards Ceremony on Dec. 12.
