Bulldogs rely on shooting

The Clarkdale Bulldogs may not be the fastest or tallest team in Division 5-2A, but coach Ronnie Boles says his 2004-2005 basketball team can put the ball in the goal and is ready to get the season under way.
The Bulldogs return four starters as they tip their season off Nov. 9 at Nanih Waiya as they try to improve on last year's 9-15 record.
With several members of the team playing football, the basketball team has not been able to practice as much as Boles would like. However, he said they will come together as the season progresses.
Senior Cedric Burns is back to direct the team at point guard, once he finishes with football season. Burns is currently the Bulldogs' top offensive threat in football as they head into the playoffs. Also playing point guard will be J.T. Godwin.
Jack Norton, another football standout for Clarkdale, will play the second guard position along with sophomore Ryan Hinton.
Shannon Henley, who led Clarkdale in scoring last year with a 21 points per game average, is back at forward, along with Drew Edwards, Taja Forbes and Mac Hamburg. Scott Benson will start at center, backed up by Alex Walimaa.
Also expected to see action are guards Antonio Forbes, Kyle Godwin, Sam Talley, Josh Crane and Josh Boles; forwards Chet Nicholas and Lametrius Forbes; and center Jeremy Sirven.
Clarkdale plays in a strong division with the likes of Heidelberg, Bay Springs, Taylorsville and Bassfield.
