CHOCTAW The top-ranked Choctaw Central Lady Warriors opened their 2004-05 basketball season with a 72-35 blowout of Cleveland in the final game of the eighth-annual Choctaw Classic Saturday night.
Choctaw Central was never seriously threatened.
The Lady Warriors jumped on Cleveland for a 26-6 lead by the end of the first quarter and carried a 38-10 advantage into halftime behind 14 points from Chantay Frazier and 12 from Mystee Dale. Shyatesa York had 10 points in the first quarter.
The Lady Warriors extended their lead to 53-22 by the end of the third period.
Dale and Frazier both finished with 20 points, while York had 19. Dale also had seven steals. York and Frazier both had five rebounds. Deonna Isaac added five steals.
Dale and Frazier's scoring output was expected. York's point total was a pleasant surprise.
Cleveland, which fell to 2-1, got eight points from Kendra Dancy and seven from Shena Brown.
