Lady Lions start over on soccer pitch in 2004

SCOOBA Lisa English is starting over.
The new women's soccer coach at East Mississippi Community College inherits a team that was winless in 2003, but by returning the squad's focus to fundamentals and conditioning, English is determined to improve.
English takes over a team with just five sophomores. Still, English said that sophomores Layla Ashitany, Jessica Conner and Allison Morgan will help get the Lady Lions program back on track.
Ashitany will enter the season as EMCC's top goalie.
Conner, a forward, is another player to whom English said she'll look to lead the team.
On the other end of the field, East Mississippi will depend on Morgan, a sweeper, to anchor the team's defense.
But veterans alone will not carry the team, and English said she will look to several newcomers, like midfielder Nikki Mason, to make an immediate impact.
Together, English hopes East Mississippi is poised to attack opponents more than the team did in 2003.
And English said all that could mean immediate improvement for EMCC.
