Lauderdale 4-H'ers compete in horse shows

Members of the Lauderdale County Horse Club competed in the district and state horse shows in July.
The district show as held in Hattiesburg, and the Lauderdale members were outstanding. The Junior Horse Bowl team members were Elizabeth Tettleton, Rachel Tettleton, Laurie Gross and Natalie Gross. The team received third place and advanced to the state contest in Jackson.
Tucker Wagoner of Collinsville was awarded the Overall High Point Junior Award and the Overall High Point Pony Award. Ashley Gerrard exhibited the Champion Appaloosa Mare while Catherine Lucky showed the Champion Grade Gelding. Bailey Mayatt showed the Grand Champion Paint Mare. Also exhibiting horses were Blake Mauldin, Ragan Creel, Lindsay Ireland, Chase Irby and Jesse Fortsen.
At the state horse show in Jackson the Senior Horse Bowl Team of Ashley Gerrard, Catherine Lucky, Hannah Smith and Christina Drinkwater placed sixth. Lauderdale County 4-H members made another good showing in Jackson winning several classes and placing high in many more.
