Keeping an eye on the storm

Lauderdale County supervisors took no action Wednesday about dispatch "problems" identified by Meridian Chief Administrative Officer Ken storms but they plan to keep and eye on the situation.
District 3 Supervisor Craig Hitt, who serves on the Lauderdale County Emergency Communications District board, commonly called the E-911 Commission, suggested forming a committee to address concerns.
Hitt recommended the committee be made up of two members of the county's board of supervisors, county administrator Tony Green, two members of the Meridian City Council, and at least two representatives from the E-911 commission.
Hitt said several people have told him their concerns about emergency response in the city and county go beyond dispatching.
District 2 Supervisor Jimmie Smith said he believes the mission of the E-911 Commission, made up of representatives from Meridian, Lauderdale County and Marion, is clear. He recommended that the commission be given time to respond to the city's request.
