EUPORA Graveside services for James S. Puckett will be held today at Eupora Cemetery. Oliver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Puckett, 76, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at Guardian Angel Hospice. He was born in Columbus. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1954, and remained a loyal Bulldog fan and long time member of the Alumni Association. He was in the insurance business for several years and owned a hearing aid dealership for 27 years before becoming ill in 1998. He was a member of the Mississippi Hearing Aid Dealers Association, and he was a Mason and a Shriner. He spent years in the U.S. Navy before and during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; a son, John and his wife, Donna; and a granddaughter, Stephanie, all of Greensboro, N.C.; a grandson, Hunter Puckett of Meridian; a granddaughter, Amber Robertson and her husband, Lee; and a great-grandson, Maddox Robertson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a sister and a brother.

ENTERPRISE Services for Samuel Downs will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Enterprise Baptist Church with the Revs. Richard Cothern and Taylor Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Archusa Memorial Gardens. Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Downs, 59, of Hickory, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Downs of Hickory; a daughter, Tanya Downs Fleming and her husband, Benjie, of Stonewall; brothers, Jerry Downs of Quitman and Jimmy Downs of Meridian; sisters, Pauline Heathcock of Huntsville, Ala., Mary Milstead of Stonewall, Jo Ann Mack and Joyce Agent, both of Meridian and Hannah Wilder of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren, Summer Nicole Downs and Mindy Brooke Carney, both of Stonewall; and step-grandchild, Jonathan Benton Fleming of Stonewall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey D. Downs and Vermelle Satcher Downs; and sons, Richard Anthony Downs and Terry Downs.
Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

DEKALB Services for Amzie Jones will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Philadelphia with the Rev. Willie Young officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jones, 95, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, in his home.
Survivors include his sons, Fred Jones, Ross Jones, Mossie L. Jones, R.C. Jones and his wife, Valeria, and Willie J. Jones and his wife, Margaret, all of Philadelphia, and Larry Jones and his wife Kathy, of Collinsville; daughters, Audrey M. McDonald, Dicie J. Hunter and Elois Wells, all of Philadelphia; 54 grandchildren; 100 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Lou Burrage and her husband, Leo, of Lauderdale; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two daughters.
Visitation will be held today from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Retired fireman with the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force
Services for John Floyd Blum Jr. will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Null and Douglas Stone officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Blum, 78, of the Little Rock community, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, in his home. He was a member of First Assembly of God, a World War II veteran, and his unit was the first to occupy Naval Air Station Meridian.
Survivors include his wife, Waurine Foy Blum of Little Rock; a son, Joseph Lewis Blum of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; daughters, Mollie Dawn Andrews of Independence, Mo., and Nancy Corbin and her husband, Randy, of Little Rock; and grandchildren, Christian John Blum, Joshua Allen Corbin and Caleb Joseph Corbin, all of Little Rock.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Rev. Sam Foy and Ina Foy; a daughter, Emma Ruth Blum; and a son-in-law, Joseph E. Andrews Jr.
Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home for Esther M. Bass, of Meridian, who died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, in Meridian.
