Run For Hope adds 5K race

Hope Village supporters are hoping for more than just a competitive race in the upcoming Run For Hope at Bonita Lakes.
They need runners lots and lots of runners.
The Run For Hope, which will be held on Oct. 30 at 8 a.m., is one of two major fund-raisers for Hope Village, and this year's event may be the biggest in the race's four-year history.
In addition to the 10K trail run, two-mile walk and one-mile fun run, race organizers have added a 5K road race for runners who wanted a course with solid footing.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each race's separate age divisions. Door prizes will also be handed out, as will a series of awards unusual to a race.
Entrants can sign up for the race in person at Anderson's Fitness Center or by printing out a registration form online at the Meridian Athletic Association's official Web site, Meridian Athletic.com.
MAA members, who will compete for points in the Run For Hope, can enter the trail run or the road race for $14. The fee for the fun run or the walk for members is $12. Non-MAA members can also enter the events for an extra $2.
Registration will also be allowed on the day of the event.
Entrants will receive a long-sleeve t-shirt and a bag of small gifts that include pens and key chains.
About 60 runners have already registered, but Royal hopes for many more.
