This is a special feature introducing the musicians of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra. You can see the orchestra in concert at 8 p.m. Nov. 13 in Meridian Community College's McCain Theater.
Maria Romero plays second violin in the Meridian Symphony Orchestra. Born in Valencia, Venezuela. She currently resides in Hattiesburg where she is in music studies at the University of Southern Mississippi.
She shares a philosophy and a work ethic that many musicians would espouse "to respect fellow orchestra members, and to expect each participant to diligently practice and study the music to be played."
Romero's favorite music is classical, but she enjoys Venezuela folk music, and dance salsa. Her choice composers are Bach and Grieg.
Isabel Escalante, also a native of Venezuela, plays first violin in the Meridian Symphony Orchestra.
She also enjoys classical music for listening pleasure. Brahms, Mahler and Tchaikovsky are her favorite composers.
Music videos and movies are Isabel's principal leisure activities.
