Fonda Rush wants to know why an organization that helps the needy would be burglarized especially in the aftermath of a hurricane.
Rush, executive director of Habitat for Humanity, and other Habitat workers continued to clean up today not from the effects of Hurricane Ivan, but from a burglary at their 1001 29th Ave. office.
The office was burglarized early Friday, one day after severe weather from Hurricane Ivan struck the Meridian area and knocked out power at the Habitat office and other homes and business throughout the area.
A donated truck, two air compressors and a tiller were among the items taken.
Rush said a box of keys was ripped from the wall and a 1994 Chevy Silverado two-tone tan truck was taken.
The Meridian Police Department is investigating the burglary. Anyone with any information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 485-1860.
