By daylight today, East Mississippi Electric Power Association expects to pre-position damage assessment teams at all substations a first step in restoring any service disrupted by hurricane Ivan.
At 6:30 a.m., crews will be dispatched to begin restoration, a spokesman said Wednesday, noting that system restoration will have to begin at the damage closest to each substation.
Engineering operations director Howard Trawick said, outages could last from two days to possibly up to two weeks in the most heavily damaged areas. "We are well prepared and have excellent crews but this could be a very dangerous storm causing severe and widespread damage," he said.
