Holly E. Bryan, a 2000 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, recently received the Outstanding Graduate Student in Pediatric Nursing award during an honors convocation held at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
This award is given to a student in the School of Nursing in recognition of her scholastic achievement, leadership and service to the school and community.
Bryan will receive a master's degree in pediatric nursing from UAB in December. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Edward F. McDill and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burns.
Dr. Heather Burns Holley of Meridian was one of 56 students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry who received the doctor of dental medicine degree during the 2004 summer commencement.
Holley will work as an associate at North Hills Dental. She is a 1999 graduate of the University of Alabama.
While at UAB, Holley was a member of Psi Omega, and community outreach in Tuscaloosa, Ala. She is married to Brad Holley and is the daughter of David Burns and Vickie Evens, both of Meridian.
Terrance D. Smith of Meridian has been awarded the Buster Pool Memorial Scholarship to attend the University of Georgia.
The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, a charitable organization that benefits nonprofits serving those in need in 40 Middle Tennessee counties, has awarded 35 scholarships, valued at $106,230, to 89 individuals who are pursuing higher education in accredited schools in the United States.
Katie Harper, color guard captain, and Daniel Lanterman, drum major of the Southeast Lauderdale High School band, recently received top honors at the All-South Drum Major and Guard Camp on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi.
Harper received Most Outstanding Guard and Lanterman received Most Outstanding Mace and First Place in Overall Exhibition. The awards were based on daily evaluations by camp instructors, class participation and performance, leadership and attitude.
Harper is the daughter of Buddy and Cathy Harper. Lanterman is the son of Terry and Kristi Lanterman.
