June busy month for 4-H'ers

June is one of my favorite months. I get to eat homemade peach ice cream, wear shorts and sandals, go swimming, see beautiful flowers, attend 4-H Club Congress and District Project Achievement Day, attend Dairy Day, participate in 4-H Fun Day and much more. As you can see, June is a great month.
Right now 4-H'ers are busy preparing for District Project Achievement Day, where they will participate in a variety of contests and showcase their talents and abilities. This event will be June 15 at Jones Junior College in Ellisville. I'm sure Lauderdale County 4-H'ers will do great.
I hope you will participate in some of the fun activities 4-H offers during the month:
June 14 The 4-H Cloverleaf Club for ages 5-7 will meet at 4 p.m. at the Extension Office. The program will be about Dairy Month and include a dairy snack, an educational program and a craft.
June 18 Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers and 4-H members will celebrate Dairy Month, and Dairy Day, at the East Mississippi Electric Power Association auditorium in Meridian. Participants will bring a dish made with at least 1 cup of dairy products. The dishes will be judged and prizes awarded. 4-H members will also have the opportunity to share some of their talents with the MHV members.
June 23 If you are between the ages of 8 and 18 and enjoy shopping, perhaps you would like to attend Mall Mania when young people will learn the basics of smart shopping. It will be at Bonita Lakes Mall at 1 p.m. To register, call the Lauderdale County Extension Office.
June 25 We will have 4-H Fun Day at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center from 10 a.m. until noon. 4-H Fun day is for children ages 5-18 who want to learn more about 4-H while participating in leadership and environmental activities. The event is free; just call the Lauderdale County Extension Office with your name and age before the event. Oh yes, we will also have watermelon, another of my favorite things about June.
