A man whose body was found at the site of a mobile home fire Friday died of smoke inhalation, according to Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler.
Cobler did not release the man's identity.
The fire happened about noon on Wright Spur Road near Toomsuba.
Cobler said a gunshot wound under the man's chin was also discovered during an autopsy performed Sunday at the Mississippi Mortuary in Pearl but Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said foul play is not suspected in his death.
Since the body was burned beyond recognition, Mitchell said, deputies are waiting for dental records to help identify the body.
The fire remains under investigation.
