Reforming campaign finance

Full disclosure it's not, but the Legislature did pass and send to the governor the Campaign Finance Disclosure Law. Some lawmakers were disappointed that the final bill did not require disclosure of how political action committees contribute to each other, but several important provisions are in there:
Require special interest ads for or against a candidate to report where their money comes from.
Require electronic reporting of all donations and expenditures by all state candidates who raise above a $75,000 threshold of campaign funds, and
Expand candidate reporting for loans.
Advocates of campaign finance reform know the battles aren't over, just postponed until the 2005 legislative session. Still, what will be in place then is better than what we have now.
