Rebs trying to prevent repeat

Enterprise forced a third game in its best-of-three series in the second round of the Class 2A baseball playoffs thanks to a misstep on the base path.
A Mercy Cross base runner missed first base on a double that would have given the Crusaders a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third inning at the Bulldogs' home field on Tuesday night.
Enterprise appealed the call and the runner was ruled out at first, and Mercy Cross' one-run lead was erased. The Bulldogs went on to tally four runs in the bottom of the third for a 7-3 lead, and they never looked back taking an 11-3 victory.
The shift in the second game allowed Enterprise to force a deciding game in the series at 7 tonight in Biloxi on Mercy Cross' home field.
Keeping the momentum on the opposing team's field in this series may be hard for the Bulldogs.
Both teams notched wins at home, but when the squads have had to load the buses, for a near three-hour trip, things have not gone as well.
After taking a 5-4 win at home on Monday, the Crusaders tallied just three runs on three hits, all in the first inning, on Tuesday at Enterprise.
Enterprise smacked 10 hits and tallied 11 runs in its home game of the series, but the Bulldogs were flustered by Crusaders pitcher Jared Koslowki in the first game.
Enterprise tallied eight hits, but the team struck out an combined seven times. The Bulldogs also missed a prime scoring opportunity in the first game, with one runner being eliminated in a rundown and another thrown out trying to steal third in the fifth inning.
Wade Weathers (12-2) will get the start tonight for the Bulldogs. Weathers threw a complete game in the opening game of the series, striking out 11 and allowing six hits. Koslowski will be on the mound for Mercy Cross.
