The rain held off Saturday morning and the Bonita Classic turned out to be a success.
Mike Thrailkill came in with a time of 17:49 to take first place overall in the 5K event. James Johnson finished second with a time of 18:55 to take home the male masters' trophy.
Brandy Gamblin came in with a time of 21:40 to finish first overall in the female portion of the 5K race.
In the female masters category, Felecia Brown finished with a 24:39 to take first place.
Rick Fontan and Georgia Walker took first place in the grand masters category. Fontan finished with a time of 19:54 to take the first place for the males, and Walker finished with a 28:01 to take first place in the female division.
The threat of rain may have kept some runners away, but the event still had a good crowd.
The event also included a two-mile walk and kids' fun run along with a great family atmosphere. After the races, runners were able to eat and win door prizes.
The event, which was sponsored by the Meridian Rotary Club, raised money for Wesley House. All proceeds went to helping Wesley House Community Center.
The day was good for all types of runners and also a lot of fun for the kids who were involved.
