Retired licensed practical nurse
NEWTON Graveside services for Dorothy Laverne Bean will be held today at 2 p.m. at Decatur Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Leon Stewart officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bean, 77, of Newton, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at Rush Specialty Hospital of Meridian. She was a member of Decatur Baptist Church and Jasper Homemakers Club. She was a retired licensed practical nurse at Permian General Hospital in Jasper County.
Survivors include her son, Jim Williams of Newton; a brother, Lavell Harris of Newton and a granddaughter, Stacye Williams Brooks of St. Angelo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bean; her parents, James M. and Millie Thrash Harris and a son, Ray Harris.
Visitation will be held today from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Alfred Minter will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Union Kemper Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Coats officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Clark's Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Minter, 83, of DeKalb, died Monday, March 15, 2004, at The Specialty Hospital of Meridian. He was a U.S. veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Nannie E. Minter of DeKalb; a son, Willie Lee Brown of Chicago; sisters, Classic McFee of Houston, Texas and Retha Brown of Springfield, Ill.; brothers, Guiles Minter of Springfield and James Houston of Houston, Texas; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Della Minter.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Memorial services for George Flynt Godwin will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Hatcher Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Godwin, 62, of Jacksonville, died Monday, March 15, 2004, in Jacksonville. He is the son of Evan and Mildred Godwin. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1959, the University of Southern Mississippi in 1967, receiving a degree in accounting. He graduated from the Army Officers Candidate School with the rank of Second Lieutenant. He was employed for many years by the Adjutant General's Office in Washington, D.C. He audited military based both at home and abroad. He was devoted to his family and had a passion for golf.
Survivors include his daughter, Dana G. Pahota and her husband, Scott; grandsons, Reece Michael Pahota and Riley Evan Pahota, all of Jacksonville; a sister, Frances G. Axton and her husband, Gerald, of Meridian; brothers, Evan Godwin Jr. of Culver City, Calif. and William E. Godwin of Meridian and Vicki Leonard of Jacksonville; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
Arrangement were incomplete and James F. Webb Funeral Home for Brent Belshe, 50, of Meridian, who died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in Meridian.
