Northeast Lauderdale's Cory Chance pitched a perfect game into the sixth inning on his way to an 11-0, one-hit victory over the visiting Quitman Panthers Friday night in prep baseball action.
Chance baffled the Quitman batters as he alternated his pitches from his side or overhand.
A single by Quitman's Alan Fleming with two outs in the sixth gave Quitman its only base runner of the game. Chance recorded seven strike outs, and his record improved to 3-1 for the season.
Northeast Lauderdale got on the scoreboard in the second when Chris Oubre singled in Jeremy Barnecastle to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.
Northeast Lauderdale added two more runs in the third. Nathan Peden singled in Chance, and Chad Brunson scored before the Panthers tagged out Peden in a rundown for the third out of the inning.
The Trojans put four runs on the scoreboard in the fifth inning.
With two men on, Brunson got on base on an error while one run scored.
Barnecastle singled in another run, and Mark Synder singled in two more runs to give the Trojans a 7-0 lead.
Matt Hall scored to make it 8-0.
Then with the bases loaded, Brunson punched a double that scored three runs and ended the game on the 10-run rule.
Northeast Lauderdale will visit Newton High School for a doubleheader today, starting at 11 a.m. Quitman, now 4-7 for the season and 0-2 in the division, visits Northeast Jones on Tuesday.
