Man found dead in Sowashee Creek

The body of an unidentified man was found in Sowashee Creek today shortly before 9 a.m., according to Lauderdale County officials
Maj. Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said the body is believed to be that of a man who had been reported missing on Sunday, but that official identification was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Clarence Butler, Lauderdale County fire coordinator and emergency management director said the man reportedly left Sunday morning to go floating on Sowashee Creek. He said the body was discovered just south of Hawkins Crossing Bridge.
