The Main Event, Meridian's 16th Annual Business and Industry Expo, will be held Thursday, April 22, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center.
The announcement is scheduled to be made today by officials with the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation during a press conference at Union Station.
The theme for this year's event, which showcases the products and services of local businesses, is "It's All About Image."
Tony Pompelia, chairman of The Main Event, said the theme is one with which everyone can identify.
More than 100 exhibitors are expected this year in the fields of business, industry, education, law enforcement, government contractors, service agencies, non-profit groups and military.
Opening ceremonies for the Main Event are scheduled to include the presentation of the 16th annual Hartley D. Peavey Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence.
Performances will be held throughout the day at the Agri-Center by Meridian Community College's Variations and other local talent. A fashion show also is scheduled.
Exhibit awards will be presented at 5:30 p.m. for Best of Show, Best of Show-Small Business, Best of Show-Image, and Best of Show-Non-Profit.
The Main Event is free to the public. Exhibit space is available for a fee of $150 for EMBDC members, and $250 for non-members.
For more information on how to reserve a booth or attend The Main Event, call the EMBDC at 693-1306 or go to www.embdc.org to download a registration form.
