Director hired for Riley Center

Mississippi State University officials may name a director of the Riley Education and Performing Arts Center today.
On Monday Nick Nichols, dean of MSU-Meridian Campus, confirmed that a director had been hired and was expected to give notice to his or her current employer on Monday.
Nichols later said the college was working on a press release that may be ready today.
The director will oversee the daily operations of the Riley Education and Performing Arts Center, the renovated Grand Opera House, Marks-Rothenberg and Newberry buildings in downtown Meridian. The renovations are scheduled to be completed in 2005.
The center will include conference areas, a performing arts theater and will house educational programs.
Job functions and responsibilities of the director, advertised by MSU-Meridian last year, included scheduling entertainment and performances; marketing the conference availability as a resource for the community, region and the university; recruiting and hiring staff; coordinating financial development and to providing financial management and budget development in consultation with the dean of MSU-Meridian Campus.
The minimum qualifications for applicants was a master's degree in a relevant field or a bachelor's degree and equivalent work experience.
