Chief Martin well-deserving of MCC honor

Under the exemplary leadership of Chief Phillip Martin, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians has carved out a sterling identity as a surging economic engine. The fuel for the engine is gaming, entertainment, manufacturing and services but the visionary who put all the pieces in place is Chief Martin.
It is entirely fitting that Chief Martin, who was once an MCC student, was inducted into the Meridian Community College Hall of Fame last week, the fifth person to be so honored. His contributions to the cause of education and economic development will be his legacy.
MCC's recognition of his achievements speaks volumes of how Chief Martin has put his personal vision of what his people can become into everyday practice. East Mississippi, indeed, the entire state has benefited enormously from his leadership.
