MACON Services for Myrtle Persons will be held today at 11 a.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. John Kittrell and Salone Green officiating. Burial will be in Pinetucky Cemetery in Shuqualak.
Mrs. Persons, 95,of Shuqualak, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Noxubee County General Hospital. She was born Dec. 21, 1908 to the late George and Mattie Gregory Crafton. She was a native of Winston County and attended county schools there. She had lived in Noxubee County for the past 65 years and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Assembly of God Church. She was a resident of Noxubee County Nursing Home since 1997 and she loved to cook, garden and visit with family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Bennie Persons and his wife, Gayle, of Shuqualak; three grandchildren; sisters, Lucile Peden and Marlon Newell, both of DeKalb and Mary Floore of Meridian; two half-sisters, Eva Robertson and Lorene White both of Louisville and a brother, James K. Gregory and a half-brother, Coy Stevenson, both of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Persons and a son, James Persons.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Lee Dukes; her mother, Lena Mae Jordan; sisters, Dorothy Jean Roberts, Mary Jane Nixon and Nannie Craft; a brother, Lorenzo Jordan; and children, Samuel Frontrall and Carlton Dukes.
PHILADELPHIA Services for Carl Reese will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hayes Funeral Service chapel with the Revs. Duaine Morgan and Danny Cheatham officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Neshoba County.
Mr. Reese, 83, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004 in his home. He was a retired employee of Illinois Central Gull Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie Reese; daughter, Carlene Butler; sons, Lacy Reece and Neal Reece, all of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today from 4 p.m.-8p.m. at the funeral home.
KOSCIUSKO Services for Bernice Wedgeworth Holloway will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kosciusko First Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Corbett officiating. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Holloway, 78, of the Possumneck Community, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Selected Specialty in Jackson. She was a member of Kosciusko First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Holloway; a son, Randy Holloway of Possumneck; sisters, Sallie Gray of Meridian and Elizabeth Bonds of Livingston, Ala.; a special family member, E.C. Thornton and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.B. Wedgeworth and Estelle Campbell Wedgeworth.
Memorials may be made to Kosciusko First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.
NEWTON Services for Henry Calton "Cat" Lollar will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Barham Chapel in Newton County with the Rev. Wayne Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Lollar, 91, of Chunky, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004 in his home. He was retired from General Box.
Survivors include his wife, Marie G. Lollar of Chunky; son, Johnny Lollar and his wife, Melinda, of Whitehouse, Texas; daughter, Martha Weatherman and her husband, Eugene, of San Angelo, Texas; sister, Eunice Young, of Lufkin, Texas; one grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
