East gets strong victory

East Mississippi bounced back strong on Friday night with a 14-3 run-rule victory over Westside in the District 4 Dixie Youth Minor League Tournament at Center Hill.
East Mississippi advances to play West Lauderdale in the championship of the tournament tonight. Play gets underway at 6 p.m. and the "if necessary" game will follow if East Mississippi can knock off West.
East Mississippi got good hitting and solid pitching to beat Westside for the second time during the tournament.
East Mississippi jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Tyler Lott walked and Kasey Hinton followed with a double.
Jason Yarbor brought in Lott with a ground out and Hinton later scored on a wild pitch to make the score 2-0.
East Mississippi added three more runs in the second inning. Chad Hinton singled and Richie Miska reached on a catcher's interference to start the rally.
Baly Hobson ripped a double to bring in one run and Tyler Sanderford grounded out to bring in Miska. Hobson scored later in the inning on a wild pitch to make the score 5-0.
Westside added a run in the second inning when Jeremiah Horne walked and came around on three wild pitches. In the fourth inning, East Mississippi ripped the ball for four runs.
Ben Griffin walked and Hunter Graham smoked a ball for a triple to bring in the run. An error allowed Graham to come in and allowed Hunter Cumberland to reach base.
After a walk to Miska and two wild pitches, Hobson brought in a run with a ground out. An error on the play allowed Miska to score and make the score 9-0.
Westside scored two runs in the fourth inning on a single by Marcus Horne and an infield hit by Jeremy Morgan to cut the lead to 9-3.
East Mississippi came back in the fifth to put the game away for good.
Luke Birchette walked and Luke Smith reached base on a catcher's interference. Lott walked to load the bases and Kasey Hinton was hit by a pitch to bring in a run.
Yarbor followed with a line drive to short that go through and into the outfield to bring two runners around to score. Yarbor later scored on a throwing error to make the score 14-3.
East Mississippi held the lead and took the 14-3 run-rule victory to advance to the championship.
