Youth rally: Unlocking your full potential'

For three years, the Mississippi State University Extension Service has been a part of the Family Matters Youth Rally.
Over the years, we have had outstanding speakers and activities, and this year will be no exception.
This year's youth rally will be Sept. 17 at the Neshoba County Coliseum. I know that seems like a long time from now, but time flies when you are having fun and we do have something fun for you to do. Read on and find out how you can be part of the T-shirt Design Contest.
The theme for this year's youth rally is "Unlocking Your Full Potential."
The rally will include interactive programs, a back-to-school fashion show and a great motivational speaker. Young people who bring a stuffed animal will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last. Wouldn't be great if the T-shirt had your design?
The youth rally T-shirt design contest allows young people ages 12-18 in Kemper, Lauderdale, Neshoba and Newton counties and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians to enter designs. The overall winner will have his or her design and signature imprinted on the youth rally T-shirts and will receive $50 in cash.
Pamphlets with complete rules and entry forms can be picked up from the Extension Office in your county. T-Shirt design entries with the theme "Unlocking Your Full Potential" are due to your county Extension Office by May 15. For more information in Lauderdale County, call me at 482-9764.
The Extension Service also has a great opportunity for teachers. The 2003 Mississippi Personal Financial Literacy Teachers Conference provides teacher training, grades 6-12, and nationally acclaimed curriculums on personal finance education.
Teachers attending the duration of the conference can receive 1.2 CEUs. For $40, each participant receives all program materials, breakout session materials, refreshments, one meal and a shared dorm room for two nights.
Early bird registration is due by May 16. Information and registration forms can be picked up from your county's Extension Office. In Lauderdale County, call Beth Randall at 482-9764.
