Newton football coach heads to Forest

Newton's loss is Forest's gain.
Newton High School football coach Brad Peterson told his players Monday he had taken a similar position at Forest High School.
Peterson goes to Forest with a 26-19 record after four years as the head coach. He spent his first year at Newton as an assistant under Jeff Breland.
Peterson replaces Kevin Worrell who went 3-8 in each of the last two seasons at Forest.

Peterson, a Louisville native, will take two assistants with him to Forest in defensive coordinator Jud Boswell and offensive line coach Shea Taylor.
The staff will begin spring drills with Forest on Monday.
Peterson leaves a program that has gone 17-6 over the last two seasons, including a division 5-2A crown in 2001 and a share of the title in 2002.
As for the players he's leaving, Peterson said that was the toughest part.
Newton High principal Wayne McDill said there was no timetable to fill Peterson's position, but he wanted to hire a coach quickly to be able to give the new coach as much time as possible during spring drills.
