Seminary smashes Clarkdale

Derek Norris smashed two home runs and the visiting Bulldogs of Seminary ripped the baseball to take out Clarkdale 15-4 in playoff baseball action on Friday night.
Seminary pounded out nine runs in the first two innings to take the win and close out the First Round playoff series.
Seminary jumped out to an early lead over Clarkdale in the first inning. Timothy Lott was hit by a pitch and Joey Mooney walked.
Norris followed with a single to bring in a run. Another run came in as Norris was tagged out in a run down while trying to advance to second on the play.
Scott Broome reached on an error and Ryan Loftin followed with a single. With two outs, Crawford Sullivan ripped a two-run double to make the score 4-0 after the first.
The visiting Bulldogs added five more runs in the second inning. Mooney walked and Norris followed with a smash to left field for a two-run homer.
Broome reached on another error and Rhyan Sparkman singled him in to make the score 7-0.
Loftin followed with an RBI doubled and Sullivan brought in a run when his ground ball was missed.
Seminary stretched the lead to 12-0 in the top of the third inning. Zack Lott and Timothy Lott each singled and Norris blasted another home run to extend the lead.
Clarkdale got on the scoreboard in the third inning. Jack Norton walked and moved to second on an errant pick off throw.
Brandon Mabry singled and Norton was able to score on a double steal. Kevin McKissack brought in Mabry with a ground out to make the score 12-1.
Seminary added a run on a double by Zack Lott in the fourth inning to make the score 13-2.
The visitors then added two runs in the fifth inning as Norris singled and Broome sent a shot over the fence for a two-run homer.
Mabry made the final score 15-4 as he ripped a pitch out for a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth.
The loss ends Clarkdale's season. The Bulldogs finish up the year with a 10-16 record.
