NEWTON Services for Paul Van "Tiny" Cochran will be held today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Newton with the Rev. Dr. Leroy Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cochran, 80, of Newton, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson. He retired as an inspector for the Mississippi Highway Department after more than 43 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Newton and a mason at the Chunky Lodge, Red Hat Deer Club and a graduate of Hickory High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Johnston Cochran of Newton; daughters, Belinda Joyce Muse and her husband, Randy, of Covington, La., and Teresa Lynn Massingale and her husband, Jim, of Overland, Kan.; a son, Robert Paul "Bubba" Cochran and his wife, Charlotte, of Newton; sisters, Hazel Chivmadia of Fairfield, Conn., and Mae Dell Hayes of Meridian; a brother, Larry Cochran of Horse Shoe Bay, Texas; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Ray and Ona Mae Cannon Cochran; a brother, Ernest Ray "Buddy" Cochran Jr.; sisters, Christine Cochran Mason and Yvonne Long.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Mason, Jim Mason, Jon Mason, Don Ownes, Kris Muse, Matthew Cochran, Samuel Paul Cochran, James Donald Massingale and Justin Muse.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Berean Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Dorthy Mae Ingram will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at John E. Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Sandtown Cemetery.
Mrs. Ingram, 77, of Philadelphia, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at Huey P. White Nursing Home in Meridian.
Survivors include her sons, James D. Ingram of Meridian, Johnny Ingram of Philadelphia, Wayne Ingram of Jackson, Roger Ingram of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Kenny Wayne Ingram of Dallas; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Roy Ingram.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

NEWTON Services for Myrtis Williams Thorne will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at New Fellowship Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry W. Lowery, Robert Rowzee and Donald Gentry officiating. Burial will be in New Fellowship Cemetery in Jasper County. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thorne, 87, of Hickory, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, in her home. She was a member of New Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lamar W. Thorne of Hickory; a son, James L. Thorne and his wife, Bobbie, of Meridian; three grandchildren, Kevin Thorne, Dr. Keith Thorne and Dr. Mary Beth Thorne, all of Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rillia Richardson Williams; sisters, Lucille Everett and Pearl Waldrop; brothers, Marion, Roy, Hubert, Leo, Pac, Clyde, Clois and Ellis Williams.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Thorne, Dr. Keith Thorne, James Williams, Bill Williams, Gary Thorne and Elliott Richardson.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of New Fellowship Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Tuesday 10:30 a.m. until the service at the church.
DEKALB Graveside services for Dorothy "Dot" Barnes will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Pinecrest Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Barnes, 69, of DeKalb, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Services for Sula Mae Williams Gardner will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Kevin Jones and Ed Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Gardner, 78, of Meridian, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a member of State Boulevard Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Johnny Gardner and his wife, Sissy, and Donnie Gardner and his wife, Joan, all of Meridian, and Ron Gardner and his wife, Debbie, of Brandon; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Gardner; and a daughter, Linda Faye Gardner Ivey.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home for Clara C. Brown, 50, of DeKalb, who died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Riley Hospital in Meridian.
Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for William "Will" Melton Gill, 23, of Meridian, who died Friday, March 14, 2003, in Meridian.
