Lauderdale County principals plan to retire

Southeast Middle School and Southeast High School soon will be without principals both will retire at the end of the year after almost 70 years of combined service to Lauderdale County schools.
Jerry Coleman, principal of Southeast Middle School, has worked in the county schools for 37 years. His school is currently rated as a Level 4, or "exemplary," school on a five-point scale.
Jackie Stevens, principal of Southeast High School, has worked in the county schools for 32 years. Her school is currently rated Level 3, or "successful" one notch below the middle school.
Lauderdale County School Superintendent David Little said advertisements for both principal jobs will run through March 18.
Interviews will begin later this month and he will make his final recommendation to the Lauderdale County School Board at the panel's regular April meeting.
