West Lauderdale blows past Clarkdale

West Lauderdale used great hitting throughout the lineup and strong pitching from Trent Posey to run rule Clarkdale 11-1 in baseball action on Friday night in Collinsville.
Posey pitched five innings and struck out nine batters while allowing just two hits. The Knight bats went off for 14 hits and 11 runs to put the game away.
The Knights got out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Randy Dively got an infield hit with one out in the inning and Richie McAllister followed with a double to right.
Dively scored on a wild pitch and Posey brought in McAllister with a single to make the score 2-0 after the first inning.
Clarkdale came back in the top of the third to get to Posey. Blake Johnson reached on an infield hit and scored on a two-out double by Kevin McKissick to make the score 2-1.
The West Lauderdale bats came to life in the bottom of the third. The Knights struck for four runs in the inning.
Posey singled to start the inning and Miles Joyner followed with a double. Jay Warren brought in a run with a single and another run came in on a Clarkdale error.
Christian Trussell came through with a sacrifice fly to bring in Warren and C. Jay Fountain closed out the big inning with an RBI double to make the score 6-1.
West Lauderdale scored two more runs in the fourth inning. McAllister started the rally with a single. After a fielder's choice, Joyner doubled in McAllister.
Another error by Clarkdale on a ball hit by Parker Temple allowed the Knights to score the second run of the inning and make the score 8-1.
West Lauderdale finished off the Bulldogs with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Fountain singled to start the inning. After Clarkdale missed a double play opportunity with a bad throw to first, the Bulldogs made another error to allow a run to come in.
McAllister doubled again to bring in another run. Pinch hitter Dave Woods supplied a two-out RBI single to give West the 11-1 run-rule victory.
The Knights improve to 4-1 on the year with the win. West will host Sweetwater (Ala.) today. Its game with Northeast scheduled for tonight has been moved because of the girls' basketball championship. West will then play a district game with Philadelphia on Monday.
Clarkdale drops to 1-6 on the year and will host Choctaw Central today.
