ECCC teams in Region 23 Tourney

The NJCAA Region 23 Basketball Tournament gets under way today with four men's games on tap at Mississippi College in Clinton.
Tuesday's play sees the women take the court at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
The East Central Community College men and women are the only area participants in this year's tournament as the squads from Meridian, Jones, and East Mississippi failed to qualify.
The ECCC men face Holmes at 3 p.m. ECCC is 0-2 against the Lady Bears this year and 0-5 over the past two seasons.
In other games Tuesday, Itawamba faces Mississippi Delta at 1 p.m., state champion and unbeaten Copiah-Lincoln tangles with Gulf Coast at 6 p.m., and Northeast meets state runner-up Pearl River at 8 p.m.
Itawamba qualified by beating Delgado in a play-in contest.
Semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday with the men playing at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and the women playing at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The women's championship is slated for 6 p.m. Thursday with the men's title game to follow at 8 p.m.
