Lady Bulldogs grab second win
The Clarkdale softball team pounded its way to its second win of the season on Friday.
The Lady Bulldogs (2-0) defeated Neshoba Central 12-5 to stay undefeated early in the season.
JorD'an Orr picked up the win for Clarkdale allowing five runs on six hits, with one strike out, in three innings of work. Emily Howard finished the game on the mound for Clarkdale.
Orr helped her own cause at the plate going 2-for-4, with a triple and a double for two RBIs, in the win.
Brandi Wright went 3-for-4 at the plate for two RBIs for the Lady Bulldogs, and Sabrina Woodall also put together a 3-for-4 performance for one RBI.
Savannah Satcher and Lindsay Dawkins each went 2-for-4 at the plate for three RBIs for Clarkdale.

Trojans stay undefeated on diamond
The Northeast Lauderdale baseball team improved its record to 3-0, 2-0 in district play, on Friday.
The Trojans picked up a 13-1 victory over Mendenhall.
Cory Chance (1-0) recorded the win for Northeast Lauderdale allowing one hit, with seven strike outs, in five innings of work.
Chance also went 2-for-3 at the plate, with two doubles for four RBIs, in the win.
Mark Snyder went 2-for-2 at the plate, with a double for two RBIs, for the Trojans.

SE Lauderdale edges Newton County
Southeast Lauderdale picked up a close victory over Newton County (1-1) on Friday.
The Tigers (1-2) edged out the Cougars 4-3 in District 3A actoin.
Tyler Harper picked up the win for Southeast Lauderdale pitching 3 1/3 innings of relief giving up two runs on two hits.
Clay McRee had a single in the game for Southeast Lauderdale, and Brett Haper had a double.
Brett Harper also drove in the winning run hitting a sacrifice fly on a 3-2 count with bases loaded.
Brandon Ezell took the loss for Newton County giving up one run on one hit, wiht two strike outs, in 2 2/3 innings of relief work.
Josh Avant and Jamie Farmer each went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Cougars. Avant had two RBIs on a single and a double, and Farmer notched one RBI on two singles.
Newton County continues its season against Louisville at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Enterprise splits games to open season
The Enterprise Bulldogs beat Taylorsville 9-6 on Saturday to even its record at 1-1 on the season.
On Friday, the Bulldogs dropped the season opener to Loyd Star 5-4.
Against Taylorsville, Chad Robinson picked up the win going the distance and striking out six. He walked four.
Robinson also led the way in batting with a single and a home run. Lance Irby had two hits. Zac Swain belted a home run.
On Friday, Enterprise dropped a tough, eighth inning decision to Loyd Star. Wade Weathers went eight innings but did not get a decision. He struck out 13. He also had two hits on offense.
Adam Simpson had two hits and Kelly Jimerson belted a home run for the Bulldogs.

Lake blows out Edinburg Eagles
CARTHAGE The Lake baseball team kept their record a spotless 3-0 (2-0 District 1A) in recent action.
The Hornets notched a 12-1 win over the Edinburg Eagles (0-1) on the road.
Brandon Burrus picked up the win for Lake going six innings allowing one run on three hits, with 12 strike outs.
Bryan Williams paced the Hornets' offensive attack going 3-for-4 at the plate, with a single, a double and a grand slam home run. He had four RBIs in the win.
Eric Watkins belted a double for two RBIs for Lake.
Justin Hamilton recorded two singles for Edinburg.
The Hornets continue their season against Pelahatchie at 7 p.m. Tuesday at home.
