Brown, Waters

Mr. and Mrs. William B. Brown of DeKalb, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Ellen, to Daniel Davis Waters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Lanier Waters of Metter, Ga.
The wedding will be Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at 6 p.m. at Blackwater Baptist Church in Kemper County.
Miss Brown is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe L. McLelland of Meridian, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Barney Brown of DeKalb.
The bride-elect is a 1998 graduate of Kemper Academy and a 2002 summa cum laude graduate of Mississippi State University in International Business, where she received a bachelor's of business administration in marketing and a bachelor's of arts in French.
While at MSU, she served as chief of staff for the Student Government Association, Honors Council Chair, director of programs for the Order of Omega. She held memberships in Phi Kappa Phi, Society of Scholars, Mortar Board and the Golden Key National Honor Society. She was vice president and personnel director of Chi Omega and served as chairman of the College of Business and Industry Ambassadors. She completed an internship with Xerox Research Center Europe and the study abroad program in Grenoble, France.
She is employed at First American Bank and Trust in Athens, Ga.
Mr. Waters is the grandson of James Cecil Davis and the late Mrs. Davis of Wrightsville, Ga., and the late Henry Wallie "Doc" Waters and the late Mary Elese Waters of Metter, Ga.
The bridegroom-elect is a 1998 graduate of Metter High School. He received his degree in international business with a bachelor's of business administration in marketing and a bachelor's of arts in Spanish from Mississippi State University.
While at MSU, he served as vice president of Alpha Gamma Rho and public relations chairman for the InterFraternity Council as well as vice president of Omicron Delta Epsilon. He was director of public relations in the student government association at MSU. He was a member of Lambda Sigma, Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Eta Sigma. He completed honors undergraduate study at Harvard University and studied abroad in Costa Rico and Mexico. He completed internships with the U.S.-Taiwan Business Council in Washington, D.C. and Citigroup in Singapore.
Mr. Waters is currently pursuing a master's of science degree in agricultural economics at the University of Georgia.
