Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Avant of Decatur announce the engagement of their daughter, Jackie Denise, to Robert "Robby" Benjamin Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Thompson of Union.
The wedding will be Saturday, March 8, 2003, at 4 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church in Decatur.
Miss Avant is the granddaughter of Elmer Avant of Huntsville, Texas, Mary Ann Lucas of Spring, Texas, Gilmore Pugh of Decatur and Geralene Pugh of Chunky. She is the great-granddaughter of A.C. Embrey of Chunky and Lucille Pugh of Forest.
The bride-elect is a 2000 graduate of Newton County High School and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in elementary education at Mississippi State University.
Mr. Thompson is the grandson of Walter and Loree Bryant of Union, the late Robert H. Thompson, Nellie Williams of Decatur and the late Clell Williams.
The bridegroom-elect is a 1996 graduate of Newton County Academy and received his bachelor's degree in agricultural extension and education in 2000 from Mississippi State University.
He is employed with Farm Bureau of Newton County.
A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony.
Family and friends are invited to attend.
