Police chasing leads in double homicide

After about 12 hours of combing the car stolen from the scene of a double homicide this week, Meridian police said they came away with evidence that will assist in their investigation.
The bodies of brothers James Tingle, 75, and John Crump, 59, were found shot to death in their home at 2419 19th St. on Monday.
The 1993 Lincoln Town Car, stolen from the home of the victims, was discovered abandoned Tuesday night on J.D. McWilliams Road off Old Highway 80 East.
Detective Dean Harper, spokesman for the Meridian Police Department, would not elaborate on the new evidence.
The car has been turned over to the sister of the victims, Willie Mae Currie. She lived with her brothers and discovered their bodies when she returned from an out-of-town trip.
Autopsies were performed on the victims Tuesday. Clayton Cobler, Lauderdale County deputy coroner, said the county medical examiner's office has not received a preliminary report on the autopsies.
