The University of Southern Mississippi recently announced that Amy Marie Nause of Meridian has been named to the Dean's List for the fall 2002 semester. Amy is the daughter of Harry and Linda Nause and a graduate of Meridian High School.
WASHINGTON,D.C. Clayton Robert Logan of Meridian was recently selected to participate in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Defense, Intelligence and Diplomacy. The forum began Tuesday and will continue through March 2 in Washington, D.C.
Having demonstrated academic ability and an interest in a career related to national security, Logan will join about 400 outstanding high school juniors and seniors from across America at the forum.
The National Youth Leadership Forum is a non-partisan, non-profit educational organization that sponsors highly specialized career-oriented programs for outstanding high school students who demonstrate leadership potential.
Logan is a senior at West Lauderdale High School and the son of Keith and Elizabeth Logan.
He is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Society of High School Scholars, Who's Who Among American High School Students and the West Lauderdale soccer team. He is a 2002 representative to Boy's State and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Mediator.
Lori Sanders recently won awards in three categories of the 2003 Creative Writing Competition at Blue Mountain College. She won first place for her short story, "The Tears of a Changeling," and also for her poem, "The Rime of the Ancient Lyricist."
Sanders placed second in the informal essay category with "Me, Myself and I."
Her compositions will be published in April in "The Mountain Breeze," the student literary journal at Blue Mountain College and will be entered in the annual Southern Literary Festival.
Lori is a junior pursuing a bachelor's degree in English. She is the daughter of David and Janell Sanders of Meridian and granddaughter of Ola Mildred Andol of West Point.
James L. Dunn has been selected to receive the 2003 Rodney Walker Technology Scholarship for the spring and fall semesters at Meridian Community College.
This $1,250 award is funded through The MCC Foundation. Meridian businessman Tommy Dulaney established the scholarship in honor of his former drafting and design instructor at the college.
Dunn is a sophomore in the drafting and design program. A President's List scholar, he is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international scholastic society for two-year college students. He and his wife, Amy, are the parents of 6-year-old Dylan. Dunn plans to work in structural or mechanical drafting.
