Allied Enterprises manager looks to branch out

Jack Rush, manager of Allied Enterprises in Meridian, would like to see more service job opportunities for his clients including many who are physically or mentally disabled.
Allied Enterprises Inc. of Mississippi is a statewide system of community rehabilitation programs operated by the state Department of Rehabilitation Services Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Clients with Allied perform work contracted by local businesses and industries. At the same time, they learn to work and live independently as well as improve personal, social and job skills.
Rush said most of the work for clients has been in manufacturing. But he said he would like to see more service job opportunities, including retail, custodial and food service industry work.
Participants in the program must be at least 16; able to care for their personal needs; medically and emotionally stable; and a client of the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation or referred to the program from another source.
