Lady Trojans take win

It was the Quinn Jackson show at Northeast Lauderdale on Friday night. The 5-5 senior scored 31 points and pulled down 8 rebounds to lead the Lady Trojans, (16-7) to a 71-63 victory over Northeast Jones.
Jackson started her scoring bonanza in the second quarter where she scored 16 points and at one time scored 10 straight. Despite trailing by as many as 19 points, the Lady Tigers form Laurel never laid down and put up a good fight.
In the first quarter the two squads battled it out on opposite ends of the court. The Lady Trojans used an inside passing game and offensive rebounds to score 10 of their 14 first quarter points.
The Lady Tigers relied on outside shooting including two three-pointers to take a 17-14 edge after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, Northeast Lauderdale got rolling on the offensive and defensive end of the ball. After two hard fought baskets by Shaquita Bell and Quinn Jackson, the game was tied at 19-19 with 7:02 remaining in the second quarter.
Quinn Jackson would outscore the Lady Tigers 10-0 over the next three minutes. This run was due to defensive pressure and forced turnovers by the Lady Trojan defense.
Northeast Lauderdale used seven second quarter Lady Tiger turnovers to put 8 points on the board. The Lady Trojans took a 41-26 halftime lead after outscoring Northeast Jones by a score of 27-9 in the second quarter alone.
After halftime, Northeast Jones mounted a mentionable comeback in the third quarter. The Lady Trojans opened up the third quarter with a quick Shalonda Jackson basket. That was the only basket they would be able to score for the next 4 minutes as Northeast Jones went on an 11-0 run fueled by Lady Trojan turnovers caused form a Lady Tiger full court press.
After Elaine Jefferson hit a shot and was fouled at the 3:11 mark, the Lady Tigers had cut the lead to 43-37.
Coach Dan Stegall gave complimented the Lady Tigers for mounting the comeback.
In the fourth quarter, two back to back Quinn Jackson buckets put the Lady Trojans up by ten 55-45 with 6:10 remaining in the game. At this point Northeast Jones put together a second come back and rattled off nine straight points to cut the lead to one at 55-54.
The Lady Trojans were able to hold off the comeback by continuing to pound the ball inside as they did all night. A key shot by Shalonda Jackson at he 2:25 mark put the Lady Trojans up by six and they were able to hold on foe the victory.
Coach Stegall was pleased with the way Quinn Jackson performed all night long.
