60th anniversary
The Rev. George A. and Helen Gower Skelton celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Nov. 25, 2002. They were honored recently by their children with a dinner at Ole Farm Beef House. More than 35 family members and friends attended. The Skeltons have four children, the Rev. Barry Skelton of Union; Kay Brandt of Houston, Texas; Paula Givens of Quitman; and Cindy Peden of Dalewood Lakes, Lauderdale. They also have 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. The Rev. Skelton is a retired Methodist minister. The couple married Nov. 25, 1942, in Meridian.
