Shooting suspect charged

Mack M. Jones, 51, of Lauderdale, was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault in the shooting of Ronnie Naylor of Lauderdale.
The shooting occurred Sunday afternoon about 3:30 p.m.
Jones allegedly shot Naylor in the chest with a small-caliber weapon at a Lauderdale residence on Northeast Cole Road. Maj. Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said Jones was taken into custody minutes after the shooting.
Calhoun said Naylor underwent surgery at a local hospital and is in stable condition.
