Lady Warriors bounce back with win over defending 4A champs

The Choctaw Central Lady Warriors bounced back from Friday's disappointing loss to fifth ranked West Lauderdale by beating defending 4A State Champion Provine 65-58 on Saturday night at the Terry Classic.
The win improves the Lady Warriors to 20-2 on the season.
Willa Thomas led Choctaw with 20 points. Chantay Frazier added 12 points and Ashley Flint added 10 points.
Quitman boys 51, Northeast Jones 46
QUITMAN Quitman hung on to beat Northeast Jones in boys basketball on Friday night 51-46. The win moves Quitman to 10-8 on the year and 2-0 in division play.
Leading Quitman on the scoreboard was Lonnie McGee with 14 points. Brandon Lee, Antoinne McKenzie and Prince Trotter added nine points each for the Panthers.
Union girls 58 Edinburg 28
The Lady Yellowjackets cruised by Edinberg in girls hoops action Friday night. Lashaundra Harrison led Union with 17 points. Edinburg high scorer was Kristin Richmond.
The win moves Union to 12-7 on the year.
Union boys 73 Edinburg 55
Union swept Edinburg with the help of Derrick House who scored a game high 30 points Friday night. Anthony Johnson chipped in 12 points of hie own.
The Yellwojacket victory gives Union a 9-7 record on the year and a 6-1 division record.
Macon Central girls 53 Newton Academy 27
Marlo Hollingsworth's 10 points for Newton was not enough as Macon Central won in girls basketball Friday. Megan Stokes' double-double, 12 points and 10 rebounds, was more than enough for Macon Central.
Macon Central will play at home on Tuesday against Winston.
