Joan Vada Stipe

QUINCY, Ill. Services for Joan Vada Stipe will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. George Tomko officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Mrs. Stipe, 73, of Meridian, Miss., died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at her home. She was born March 28, 1929 in Versailles, Ill., the daughter of Roy B. and Veleda Petri Putnam. She married Thomas J. Stipe on July, 2, 1948 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He died on Sept. 24, 1979. Mrs. Stipe was employed for Lever Brothers in St. Louis for many years until her retirement.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Carpentier and her husband, Jerry, of Columbia and Terry Ellmo and her husband, Mike, of Meridian; four grandchildren, Keith and Karie Carpentier of Columbia and Tom and Kate Ellmo of Meridian; two brothers, LeRoy Putnam and Webb Putnam, both of Burlington, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Stipe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters; and five brothers.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Sardis Baptist Church in Philadelphia.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Elaine Tatum

SEBASTOPOL Services for Elaine Tatum will be held today at 10 a.m. at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Cannon officiating. Burial will be in Fuston Cemetery in Walnut Grove. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Tatum, 75, of Walnut Grove, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, in her home.
Survivors include her sister, Vaudine Lilly of Heart, Texas and several other relatives and friends.
Larry D. Dixon
Services for Larry D. Dixon will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David M. Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Dixon, 71, of Kosciusko, formerly of Meridian, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at the Veterans Home in Kosciusko. He was a veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Merilon Harper; a brother, Richard Dixon and a step-father, Ethel M. Jones, all of Meridian.
Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Harold Turner
BUTLER, Ala. Services for Harold Turner will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Red Springs Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Jerry Turner and Kendall Turner officiating. Burial will be in Brightwater Cemetery in Needham.
Mr. Turner, 70, of the Pleasant Hill community, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at his home. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Knight Turner of the Pleasant Hill community; four daughters, Mary Beth Abston of Quitman, Miss., Betty Sue Hobden of Satsuma, and Melissa Ann Keith and Frankie Knight, both of Gilbertown; four sons, Jimmy Harold Turner of Toxey, William Harold "Buck" Turner of Butler, Wayne Lee "Red" Turner and Timothy Allen Turner, both of Gilbertown; and three brothers, Oliver Turner Jr., and David Ira Turner, both of the Pleasant Hill community and George Thomas Turner of the Lusk community.
Leslie Lamar Glascock

Memorial services for Leslie Lamar Glascock will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Glascock, 80, formerly of Meridian, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003. He was born Aug. 23, 1922 in Bonita. He was a veteran of World War II with decorations he earned from numerous wartime Merchant Marine voyages in the North Atlantic, South Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. He was a member, trustee and deacon of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.
He was a general contractor who did residential and commercial construction from East Mississippi to Western Alabama. His construction of Anderson's Hospital in the mid 1960's was a project he took special pride in.
When asked, he was always ready to give advice on any type of building endeavor, "He was a true craftsman. Working on a project with him was always a learning experience," said his son-in-law.
He will be remembered as a businessman, craftsman, thrifty Scotsman,(who once tried to buy back his used golf shirts at his daughter's garage sale), golfer, and as a devoted family man and loving husband for 60 years. He will always be remembered standing with his jaunty Mississippi Seniors' golf hat, a shirt pocket full of toothpicks, and a pair of vividly colored golf shirts. He will be missed.
He was a connoisseur of black-eyed peas, all things chocolate, and basketball on television. After retiring he was an everyday golfer with two holes in one. He was a long time member and past president of Northwood Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Nollie, a son Les Glascock and his wife, Donna, of Meridian and a daughter, Laura Strawn and her husband, Joe, of Jonesboro, Ga.; grandsons, Will Strawn and his wife, Linda, Lamar Strawn and his wife, Hope, all of Stockbridge, Ga.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church in Meridian or a charity of choice.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Dean Ethridge

MACON Services for Dean Ethridge will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mashulaville Baptist Church with the Rev. Sterling Davis officiating. Burial will be in Mashulaville Cemetery. Cockrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ethridge, 92, of Macon, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon. She was born in Mashulaville and was a graduate of Noxubee Agricultural High School. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of Westside Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Nelson of Macon; a son, Billy Ethridge of Bellvue, Neb.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Aycock of West Point.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Ethridge.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
